I want to thank all of you for your support. Now it’s time for the work to begin. I look forward to serving you.

Tom Frenaye, K1KI

My lifelong commitment to Amateur Radio began at age 14. I care about its future and the leadership the ARRL provides, so I’m asking for your vote in the upcoming election.

Since leaving the ARRL board in 2018, I have become increasingly frustrated with the League’s lack of progress in creating a vibrant future for Amateur Radio.

Specifically:

  • Not enough youth coming in
  • Erosion of our access to spectrum
  • Misalignment of license structure with today’s needs
  • Regulations restricting antennas
  • Encroachment by interference sources
  • Shrinking ARRL membership
  • Dissatisfaction with programs and QST
  • Governance dysfunction.

Our current New England Director and the board as a whole are not adequately addressing these issues. Change is needed.

My record of getting things done:

  • Led ARRL effort resulting in FCC RM-11828 (technician enhancement)
  • Led selection and vetting of 50 sites and hundreds of volunteers for WRTC2014
  • Created and administered the very popular New England QSO Party
  • As corporate IT Director, I drove improved decision-making, and more timely/flexible access to data through a major IT modernization program
  • As Mayor of my town, I spearheaded a successful initiative to handle challenging financial times through a creative financing structure.

Significant leadership experience:

  • ARRL board member (33 years), Vice President, and Foundation President, culminating in 2019 with election as  “Director Emeritus” by the full ARRL Board
  • Former president of the Yankee Clipper Contest Club
  • Lifelong commitment to ARRL exemplified first as a staff member, then through volunteering in governance, the Field Organization (ORS, BPL, OO), and as a financial donor (Maxim Society)

I will listen to and work for YOU. Together, we will build a stronger future for Amateur Radio.

Thank YOU!  Please support my candidacy for the ARRL board.
